2K Games has appointed Ben Brinkman from the creators of Apex Legends to direct the development team at their internal studio, which is currently crafting the upcoming third-person action-packed title known as Project Ethos.
Leadership Transition Follows Lukewarm Feedback
Brinkman assumes the leadership position at 31st Union following the departure of former leader Michael Condrey, who was removed from his post due to Project Ethos' lackluster initial reveal last fall.
Recently, 2K president David Ismailer updated employees about this organizational change through an official communication, which emphasized that early feedback sessions had shown the need for a distinct direction.
The president expressed that the team is now reimagining the project with a revised approach, aiming to address player expectations.
Trend of Strategic Recruitment
This announcement mirrors a similar action taken by 2K Games in August, when they recruited an industry veteran from Blizzard to assist with the beloved franchise studio Cloud Chamber.

Given your hard work and versatility, particularly over the last year, you repeatedly show that.
The player input from last fall’s Project ETHOS demo was informative. It confirmed the potential of a roguelike shooter but indicated we still had work to do. It highlighted the requirement for a sharper identity.
The progress is encouraging to see how far you’ve advanced. You took the feedback to mind and revamped the title with a refreshed vision - one that’s poised to fulfill its promise to our players.
The trust in Project ETHOS increases every day. To boost the incredible advancement you’ve made, It is a pleasure to announce the new hire as the latest Lead of the team. Following several months of conversations, Ben officially joins us on the specified date.
